What We Do

The Work Never Ends!

Our Mission in Action

At Vietnam Cat Welfare, our mission is to protect, care for, and speak up for cats in need. Every day, we work to rescue, heal, and rehome vulnerable animals - while also addressing the root causes of neglect through education and outreach.

Here's how we do it:

Rescuing

Every week, we are faced with numerous requests for assistance. Both locals and visitors in Hội An reach out to us regarding cats that are abandoned, injured, neglected, or abused. The opportunity to help these homeless and mistreated animals can be fulfilling, yet emotionally challenging at times.

We are passionate about saving these precious lives from severe situations, but the harsh realities of their suffering can be incredibly difficult to witness and truly heartbreaking. But we won't stop, because every animal is worth being rescued.

Caring

Over the last 13 years, we've rescued numerous beautiful cats and kittens. Each one holds a special place in our hearts, whether they've been rehomed or are still with us at the shelter.

We are dedicated to making sure that our shelter is a "safe haven" where our rescues lead happy lives, with access to proper healthcare, nutritious food, and, most importantly, loads of love.

Rehoming

We're on a mission to help rescued cats find their perfect forever homes. Our goal is to ensure that they get the love and care they deserve, and we put in a lot of effort to match them with the right families. It's all about creating connections and making sure that both the kitties and their new owners are a great fit for each other. In addition to rehoming these adorable cats, we also want to raise awareness about the joys of adopting rescue animals.

There are so many wonderful cats out there just waiting for someone to take them in and give them a second chance at life. Every cat deserves a loving home, and by sharing stories and experiences, we believe we can inspire more people to open their hearts and houses. Each adoption story is a testament to the transformative power of love and care.

Sterilizing

As Vietnam Cat Welfare, we aim to increase the understanding of the benefits of pet sterilization among local communities in and around Hoi An. By encouraging more pet owners to spay or neuter their cats (and dogs), we can work together to lessen the plight of unwanted animals. This collective effort not only helps control the pet population and contributes to the overall well-being of animals in our communities but also fosters a more responsible pet ownership culture in Vietnamese society. Thanks to our partner FOUR PAWS international we can offer sterilizations for free.

Trap - Neuter - Release (TNR)

Whenever possible, we actively engage in trap-neuter-release (TNR) activities to manage the stray cat population in Hoi An effectively. By humanely trapping these cats, having them neutered, and then releasing them back into their familiar environment, we help to stabilize their numbers. Our goal is to create a sustainable solution to the stray cat issue. By controlling the population, we can ensure that fewer cats are left to fend for themselves, which leads to a healthier community. It's a win-win situation that makes a real difference in the lives of these animals.

Education & Awareness

Our mission is to promote understanding and awareness of cat welfare throughout Vietnam. We are dedicated to informing individuals of all ages about the importance of caring for and protecting our feline friends.Through campaigns and outreach programs, we are committed to making a positive impact on the perception and treatment of these beloved animals. By sharing knowledge and resources, we hope to foster a compassionate and responsible attitude towards cats and their needs.

"Cats matter too"

The "Cats Matter Too" programme, initiated in 2020, is the first of its kind in Vietnam to specifically focus on promoting feline welfare and addressing the cat meat trade. Its objective is to support pet owners and protect cats from unscrupulous thieves. In collaboration with FOUR PAWS International and PAWS for Compassion the programme involves a variety of activities in the cities of Da Nang and Hội An.
