Make a Real Difference - Volunteer in Vietnam
VCW welcomes volunteers from far and wide to come and help our mission in Hội An, Vietnam.
We are continuously in search of confident, independent animal lovers to assist with a variety of tasks at the shelter and in our community outreach efforts.
Why volunteer?
We operate without any government funding or assistance, depending solely on generous donations and our personal jobs to feed the cats and care for all the animals. Your help running the shelter will make a huge difference to the cats and future rescues waiting on us.
It's not just about giving your time; it's about creating a loving atmosphere for our kitties at the shelter. Plus, you'll meet other animal lovers and be part of a community that shares your passion for helping cats in need.
What will be the tasks?
When you volunteer, you'll get the chance to interact with the cats, help with their care, assist in organizing free sterilization and TNR, and engage ín other community awareness raising activities.
Work involved includes the following:
- Feeding and animal care
- Helping with medications
- Cleaning and maintenance of the shelter
- Garden work
- Helping at "Jack's Cat Cafe" onsite if needed
- Other projects around town - TNR and outreach
Please note that we ask for a minimum stay of one month with us.
What to expect?
A significant part of the work involves interacting with animals on a day to day basis. Having some experience in animal care or rescue is a plus. The role tends to be quite hands-on, physically challenging from time to time, and you might need to put in some extra hours occasionally. Keep in mind that summers in Vietnam can be very hot and humid, so it's ideal if you're comfortable working in these conditions.
We are located in a town that is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Indeed, Hội An is an ideal destination for everyone. With its gorgeous beach, charming old town, and plenty of daytime activities, it has something for all. It's quite peaceful, making it less suitable for those looking to party every night, especially since we do start our mornings early! The volunteer shifts kick off at 10 AM and continue until 1 PM.
What you get?
At the moment, we're unable to cover the expenses for our volunteers due to our tight budget. However, we can help arrange local, affordable and safe accommodation for our volunteers.
