Kitten-Rescue

Found a Kitten?

What to Do

Before you take a kitten from the street or market, figure out if it actually needs rescuing.

Ask yourself the following questions:
  • Does it look genuinely abandoned or is there a chance its mum is around?
  • Is it sick or injured?
  • Does it look skinny or have a healthy weight?
  • Is the kitten being abused?
  • Does it have a home nearby? Ask around!

Please remember that raising a small kitten is very hard, especially if it is under 3 weeks of age where it needs its mother's milk to have a good chance of survival. If there is a possibility that its mum is around leave the kitten with her. If there is a case of abuse or injury/illness arrange to look after the mum and babies together, do not separate them.

Aging a Kitten:
  • 1 - 14 days old
The kitten's eyes are closed and ears folded over.
  • 2 - 3 weeks old
The kitten's eyes are open, can move around but wobbly on its feet.
  • 3 - 4 weeks old
The kitten's eyes are open, ears are up, and can easily get around.
  • 4 - 8 weeks old or older
    Running around energetically.
Feeding a Kitten:
  • 1- 3 weeks old
Will need to be bottle-fed kitten milk/substitute.
  • 3 weeks old and older
Can be offered soft food such as kitten Whiskas sachet and congee. But may still need to be bottle-fed until transitions over to solid food.

If you find yourself needing more assistance, please feel free to reach out to us, and we will do our best to help.
However, please remember that we currently have 105 cats in our care, which means we are already beyond our maximum capacity. Our financial resources are stretched thin, so we are unfortunately unable to take in any more cats at our shelter at this moment.
